I always thought it would be neat to replace the original
leatherette covering of a C3 with some wood veneer. My dad works
in the finishing room of a cabinet shop, so he picked up a scrap piece
of cherry veneer. I then spent a number of hours with a pair of heavy-duty
scissors, razor blade, and a dremel in order to form the veneer to the
proper shape. Once it was done, I took it back to dad who then put
a professional-grade finish on it. Here are some photos of the end
